About Divya

Divya has worked for nearly 20 years with children across a wide variety of speech therapy settings including some of Sydney’s main teaching hospitals (St George Hospital, Liverpool Hospital, and Canterbury Hospital), community health care centres, schools and private clinics. Divya has also worked with adults after they have acquired a brain injury or suffered a stroke.

Divya enjoys working with children and their families and gains enormous joy in helping children develop their full communication potential. Divya’s varied experience in working with children from diverse backgrounds has also contributed to her ability to relate warmly with all the families she has worked with and develop communication goals in close collaboration with parents.

Divya has gained extensive paediatric clinical experience and works with children of all ages children of all ages, particularly children who are experiencing pronunciation, language, speech or stuttering difficulties.

Divya has been trained in the Hanen "It Takes Two to Talk" training and have completed Family Partnerships Training with NSW health to work in close partnerships with families and consider each family's individual needs when developing an intervention plan that is unique for each family/patient.

Divya has a special interest in working with school-aged children and adolescents experiencing learning difficulties in conjunction with speech and or language / social communication difficulties, along with other comorbid diagnoses e.g. ASD, ADHD. She also has significant experience successfully supporting children with significant challenging behaviours, achieving their speech and language goals by working closely with Psychologists, OT and other health professionals involved in their care. I also have considerable experience working with Adults and Children with complex and chronic needs under the NDIS framework and have worked closely identifying and supporting the communication needs of vulnerable families in a project for NSW Health.

Divya also has an interest and experience in working with children who have autism spectrum disorder, and is experienced in assessing and assisting children with reading and spelling challenges.

Divya is experienced in using the Lidcombe program to help many children she has worked with, achieve stutter-free speech. She works with school-aged, adolescents and adults who stutter using Camperdown and Westmead/ Oakville Programs. Divya been trained in PROMPT(c) Introduction to Therapy Technique and advanced training in Bridging PROMPT Technique to Intervention.
