Emily Gilmour

Speech Pathologist

About Emily

Emily feels very privileged to work with children, adults, and their families to help them communicate with confidence. She first became passionate about speech pathology when she was a child. She had first hand experience seeing the difference speech therapy made in her brothers’ life. Now as a mum of two beautiful boys with additional needs she is even more keen to provide intervention that is effective, evidence based, fun and empathetic.

Emily has had extensive experience working with children and adults with a variety of communication challenges, including those who have developmental delays, specific language impairments, neurodiversity such as those with Autism or attention difficulties. As well as those who have difficulty with speech and language, articulation, phonology, dyslexia, stuttering, selective mutism, pragmatic and social skills and literacy.
She is keen to develop goals with her clients and involve their families, teachers and other professionals involved so that together we can achieve the best outcome!

Prior to working at Eastside Emily worked in the hospital setting as a senior speech pathologist in adult rehabilitation. This involved working with adults with swallowing and communication difficulties that were experienced through stroke, head injury, or other neurological impairments. She has also worked in the UK in schools, community health and hospital settings.

Emily has done further training in PROMPT, the Lidcombe and Camperdown programs for stuttering therapy, literacy and play therapy. She also has worked as a registered counsellor for a number of years, and brings compassion and warmth to her practice.
