Yan Chen

Yan graduated with a Bachelor of Speech Pathology from the University of Queensland. She then obtained her Doctor of Philosophy in Speech Pathology in 2007. She has worked extensively with children in schools and clinics in Australia and Hong Kong. Her research has been published in seven professional journals and she has presented her findings in nine national and international conferences.

Yan works with toddlers, preschool- and school-aged children with a particular interest in children with additional needs, including those diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Global Developmental Delay, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Sensory Processing Disorder. She has experience working with Makaton sign language and the Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS), and is trained in the DIR Floortime and Hanen programs. She has extensive experience working with children with speech sound, language, fluency and literacy difficulties.

Yan is a warm and nurturing speech pathologist who believes that the best learning is done when children are having fun! Her extensive clinical experience, together with her research background, has deeply rooted in her the importance of providing intervention that is practical, wholistic and evidence-based.
