About Divya

Divya is an experienced Speech Pathologist with over 20 years of clinical expertise working with children and families across a wide range of settings. Her career has included roles in some of Sydney’s major teaching hospitals – such as St George Hospital, Liverpool Hospital, and Canterbury Hospital – as well as community health centres, schools, and private clinics. In addition to her work with children, Divya has supported adults recovering from brain injuries and strokes, further broadening her clinical scope.

Divya is passionate about helping children reach their full communication potential. She finds great joy in building strong relationships with children and their families, and is committed to working collaboratively with parents to set meaningful, individualised communication goals. Her extensive experience with families from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds enables her to connect warmly and respectfully with all clients.

Divya has developed specialised skills in paediatric speech pathology, working with children of all ages who experience difficulties with pronunciation, language development, speech clarity, and fluency. She is trained in evidence-based programs such as the Hanen “It Takes Two to Talk” program, and has completed Family Partnership Training through NSW Health, equipping her to work closely with families to design personalised intervention plans.

Divya has a strong interest and background in supporting children, adolescents, and young adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and she is skilled in assessing and supporting students with reading and spelling challenges. She is experienced in delivering fluency therapy, using programs such as the Lidcombe Program for young children who stutter, and the Camperdown and Westmead/Oakville Programs for older children, adolescents, and adults.

She has a particular passion for working with school-aged children and adolescents who experience learning difficulties alongside speech, language, or social communication challenges. Divya is also experienced in supporting individuals with co-occurring diagnoses such as ASD and ADHD, and is adept at working within multidisciplinary teams, including Psychologists and Occupational Therapists, to address complex behavioural and communication needs.

Divya is also experienced in supporting both children and adults with complex and chronic needs under the NDIS framework. Her work has included identifying and addressing the communication needs of vulnerable families through projects in partnership with NSW Health.

Furthering her commitment to best practice, Divya has completed both the PROMPT® Introduction to Technique and Bridging PROMPT Technique to Intervention training, enhancing her ability to support children with motor speech disorders. She has also undertaken Lifeline’s Accidental Counsellor PLUS training, allowing her to be a compassionate and supportive presence for clients and their families.

Why did I become a speech pathologist?

I have always had an interest in languages and science and the strong need to understand people and how to help people achieve their goals. I found that becoming a Speech Pathologist was a “natural “fit for all my interests and personality traits, as helping children and adults reach their communication goals is the ultimate reward !

I love working at Eastside as I am surrounded by a great team of Speech Pathologists who bring their caring and compassionate personalities along with a diverse range of skills to work each day. I also really enjoy the range of patients I see in a single day , I always leave feeling stimulated and challenged.

My favourite place in the world would be curled up with a good book and a cup of coffee at home.

I am fascinated by old buildings!
